To prove to Americans how much they need government, Congress announces that for 12 hours, all laws and regulations will be suspended, and all crimes will go unpunished. CNNBC reporter Lyle Callahan braves the streets of Los Angeles hoping to capture gruesome footage of Americans tearing each other apart during the government’s 12-hour purge. But Lyle discover sthat when there are no regulations, lemonade stands pop up, prescription drug prices plummet, and homeowners can safely add a sunroom without spending thousands of dollars in permits and inspections. Never mind reality, though; Lyle is determined to let CNNBC’s viewers know just how horrible everything really is.
